I'm Zion—and here's a little bit about me and how I found my way into music.
I've been making noise since I was born... and I haven't stopped since. I started singing and writing songs as soon as I could talk. Although, my early "singing" sounded a lot more like high-pitched yelling—so eventually my parents strongly encouraged...well insisted I take music lessons.
I started vocal training at 8 and performed my first song on stage—"Look What You Made Me Do" by Taylor Swift. That moment changed everything for me.
Then, the world hit pause during the 2020 COVID quarantine. I missed music so much, so I dove deeper into discovering what I loved and started writing my own songs. These are in a sparkly Unicorn journal somewhere and will stay there, but I was inspired.
At 9, I started training at Hudson's on Mercer Street—beginning with vocals, then adding guitar and piano. I've had so many incredible coaches along the way who have helped shape me into the musician I am today. Hudson's has truly become my home away from home. It's more than a music studio—it's family. Hudson's continues to support me, push me and teach me and I am forever grateful.
Middle school brought a whole new chapter... one I'm very happy to have behind me. I wrote my first original song in 6th grade, and during some of those tougher chapters, music became my outlet. Turning my thoughts and emotions into lyrics and chords became my way of working through everything. I wrote a lot during that time and even recorded some of my favorites at Zone Studio—which was such an amazing experience.
These days, I still love writing new songs – now inspired by who I've become and a rare, beautiful love that finds its way into everything I write. I've had the opportunity to perform all over Central Texas, and while I love playing originals, 90s alternative covers—like Nirvana and Sublime—are my favorite!
We're all living this wild human experience together, and music is one of the things that helps us feel it, process it, and get through it. Music is magic.
I'm excited to keep learning, creating, performing, and sharing with y'all! Thank you for your support...Follow me to see what's next!
